Bake something for Halloween!

Halloween is a great time to be in the kitchen and be creative with the kids. We challenged Leyla and her family to bake us some spook-tacular treats!

These cookies were a hit when Leyla from This Day I Love made them with the kids.

What would your little monsters create?  We’d love to see them so why not share your creations with us and we’ll feature you in the Trex Family Bakery!

Just post your photo to Instagram using the hashtag #BakingWithTrex.

Spider cookies!!

With Halloween fast approaching we are having some fun creating some spooky treats in the kitchen. One of our favourites is spider cookies.

These spider cookies make a tasty spooky treat perfect for those little monsters on Halloween.

  • Ingredients 88g Trex
  • 1 medium egg
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp bicarbonate soda
  • 2 drops vanilla extract
  • 1 egg 200g brown sugar
  • 135g plain flour
  • 100g chocolate drops

Step 1

Pre heat oven to 180C and line two baking trays with greaseproof paper. Cream together butter and sugar, before adding vanilla and the egg. If it looks a little curdled whisk further.

Step 2

Add all the remaining ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon to form a dough.

Step 3

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and use cutters to make cookies.  We had special Halloween cutters but you can use any shape you choose.

Place cookies onto baking tray and place in oven to bake for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Once the cookies have baked take them out the oven, whilst they are still hot use a cocktail stick to drag the melted chocolate chips into spider shapes.

This needs to be done before the chocolate cools else the chocolate cannot be dragged.

Tip: For pointed chocolate tips, keep the cookies warm and take one out at a time to create the spider legs. If the chocolate cools it is harder to create the spider legs.
